How to add banner images to the home page

Step 1:

Go to the posts page in the backend of the website and find an existing post with ‘BANNER’ in the title (see green arrow)

If you want to replace an old banner image with a new one:

If you want to create an additional banner image from the current two:
Duplicate this post by hovering over the name and selecting ‘Clone’ (see pink arrow).
This will create a duplicate of the post with ‘- Draft’ at the end of the title.

Step 2:

Edit the post you want to replace or the new ‘-Draft’ post by clicking on the title or by hovering on the title and clicking ‘Edit’.

This will open the page to edit the image.

Rename the title of the page to explain what the banner is for e.g ‘BANNER – Name of Banner’ (see green arrow).

This won’t show anywhere, it is just so you know what the banner is for.

Step 3:

Scroll down to the featured image section on the RH side of the page (see green arrow in the first image)

Click on the image to change it. This will open the media library, you can either drag the new image into this pop-up window or you can select the ‘Upload files’ tab in the top LH corner and choose the file from your computer (see green arrow in second image).

Once you have selected the right image, click ‘set feature image’.

Step 4:

Scroll down to the custom appearance in grid section (see green arrow).

Please note:
If you cannot see this section, scroll to the top of the page and select the ‘Page Options’ dropdown. Then check the tickbox next to ‘Custom appearance in grid’).

In the custom link section, enter the URL of the page that you want the banner to link to. If there is no link, leave this blank.

How to remove old banner images from the home page

Please note:
If you are reusing/replacing the same banner template and not saving copies of the old banners, please ignore this.

Step 1:

Go to the posts page in the backend of the website and find an existing ‘BANNER’ post you wish to remove from the homepage.

Hover over the name of the post and select ‘Trash’ (see green arrow).

This will move the post into the trash. If you do this accidentally, it will still keep a copy of it but it is best to only do this if you are sure you don’t need to use it again.
