Neighbour Day is a national reminder that the smallest moments of connection can brighten someone’s day. A wave across the fence, a friendly chat on the footpath or checking in on someone who might need a little support can help people feel seen, valued and included.
At Palliative Care SA, Neighbour Day sits closely with our Compassionate Communities SA program. Strong communities grow when people look out for one another, especially during times of ageing, illness, caregiving or grief. Simple acts of kindness help create neighbourhoods where everyone feels they belong.
If you are looking for ways to build connection in your community, we have gathered practical ideas, tools and opportunities to help you get started. You will find resources from Neighbours Every Day, information about TLC Connector Training, ways to join our Community of Practice and the SA Death Literacy Survey which helps shape future community resources. Neighbour Day is a gentle reminder that connection does not need to be big or complicated. It begins with small moments and each one helps build a kinder, more connected South Australia.
