Palliative Care SA Launches Three New Reports Showcasing Compassionate Communities Innovations Across South Australia

Palliative Care SA is proud to announce the release of three new reports in August, capturing the impact and innovation of the Compassionate Communities SA program from 2023–2025. These reports highlight collaborative work with both South Australian Primary Health Networks—Country SA PHN and Adelaide PHN—through the Nurturing Compassionate Communities projects.

Together, these initiatives have helped to address critical areas of need across the state, including:

  • Building local capacity, resilience, and service sustainability
  • Enhancing patients’ experiences with primary health care
  • Developing tailored solutions that reflect individual community strengths and challenges

📘 Country SA: Empowering Communities Through Education

Funded by Country SA PHN as part of the Greater Choice for At Home Palliative Care Program, the Country SA project focused on public education and awareness.

  • 61 education courses delivered to over 400 participants
  • 19 public reports and tools developed to support community knowledge and engagement

🏙️ Adelaide: Co-Designing with Councils

Funded by Adelaide PHN under the same national program, the Adelaide project concentrated on deep council engagement.

  • 13 education courses delivered to more than 106 participants
  • Intensive collaboration with two local councils to co-design a startup model for nurturing compassionate communities

These projects reflect PCSA’s commitment to fostering inclusive, community-led approaches to palliative care—where compassion is not just a value, but a shared practice.
